On July 4-6, 2024, international events were held in Tbilisi, Georgia, including an international conference on "Deposit Insurers and Bank Resolution: Current State and Future Challenges," the annual meeting of the Eurasian Regional Committee (EARC), and a meeting of the European Regional Committee (ERC) of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI). The international events were organized by the International Association of Deposit Insurers jointly with the Deposit Insurance Agency of Georgia.

As a member of the Committee of the Republic of Armenia for the Development and Implementation of the Financial Literacy Program, the Deposit Guarantee Fund of the Republic of Armenia participated in a series of events in May and July 2024 aimed at increasing the literacy level among students. Specifically, Fund employees took part in the annually held "Brain Ring" intellectual game, the "WIKIMONTH" contest, the "Wikimedia for Women" project, as well as an event at a youth camp. At the events, the Fund's employees delivered presentations on the activities of the Deposit Guarantee Fund of Armenia and organized discussions on various financial topics. Participants were awarded prizes and souvenirs.

As part of international events in St. Petersburg on July 17-18, 2024, meetings were held of the Expert Group on harmonization of legislation in the field of insurance (guaranteeing) of bank deposits, liquidation, resolution and bankruptcy of credit institutions in the Eurasian Economic Union under the Advisory Committee on Financial Markets of the Eurasian Economic Commission (hereinafter – the Expert Group) and the Council of Heads of deposit insurance (guarantee) organizations of the EAEU countries (hereinafter – the Council of Heads). The events were organized by the State Corporation "Deposit Insurance Agency".

The State Corporation "Deposit Insurance Agency" (DIA) will be able to acquire from bank creditors the rights of claim against individuals held subsidiarily liable for driving banks into bankruptcy, if these rights were not sold at auction. The corresponding Law No. 208-FZ "On Amendments to Articles 61-17 and 189-96 of the Federal Law 'On Insolvency (Bankruptcy)' and Articles 19 and 39 of the Federal Law 'On Insurance of Deposits in Banks of the Russian Federation'" came into force in July 2024.

The National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter - NBK) announces the start of the process of transferring assets of JSC "Kazakhstan Deposit Insurance Fund" (hereinafter – KDIF) to private asset management companies for trust management. The transfer of funds is being carried out as part of the NBK's strategy to develop the securities market and gradually move away from managing the assets of its subsidiary organizations. A ceremony was held in Almaty to sign the relevant agreement with representatives of several asset management companies.

On June 26, 2024, the ninth meeting of the Working Group on Cooperation in the Field of Digitalization of Deposit Insurers of the Eurasian Economic Union (hereinafter – the Working Group) was held via videoconference. During the meeting of the Working Group, the State Corporation "Deposit Insurance Agency" of the Russian Federation (hereinafter – DIA) and the Deposit Guarantee Fund of Armenia (hereinafter – Fund of Armenia) shared their experience in implementing tools for submitting applications and online reimbursement.

Starting from June 4, 2024, creditors, borrowers, and depositors of liquidated financial organizations can apply to the State Corporation "Deposit Insurance Agency" (hereinafter - DIA) online using the digital profile infrastructure. When submitting an inquiry through the DIA website, they will need to enter minimal information and will not have to attach an identification document. It is sufficient to grant DIA permission to use data from the State Services (Gosuslugi) portal.

As part of the activities of the Expert Group on harmonization of legislation in the field of insurance (guaranteeing) of bank deposits, liquidation, resolution and bankruptcy of credit institutions in the Eurasian Economic Union under the Advisory Committee on Financial Markets of the Eurasian Economic Commission (hereinafter – the Expert Group), a meeting of representatives of the EAEU member states was held on May 22-23, 2024, in Minsk, Republic of Belarus. The event was organized by the Agency of Deposit Compensation of the Republic of Belarus. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission, deposit insurers, and financial regulators of the EAEU member states.

When placing their savings in a bank, depositors often ask themselves questions like, "What if something happens and the bank's license is revoked?" or "If it goes bankrupt, who will return my money and how?" Many questions arise. It is therefore important to remember that Kazakhstan currently has a deposit protection system that ensures the return of savings when an insured event occurs at a bank (revocation of its license). This process is regulated by the Kazakhstan Deposit Insurance Fund (KDIF).

On April 8, 2024, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, A. Japarov, signed the Cabinet of Ministers' resolutions "On the Reorganization of the Deposit Protection Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic" and "On the Approval of the Regulation on the Procedure for Considering Appeals from Distressed Borrowers and Other Financial and Credit Organizations".

Starting from March 19, 2024, an application for reimbursement can be submitted remotely on the website of the State Corporation "Deposit Insurance Agency" (DIA) or through the Unified Portal of Government Services (Gosuslugi). This became possible after amendments to the Federal Law "On the Insurance of Deposits in Banks of the Russian Federation" came into force.

The Kazakhstan Deposit Insurance Fund (KDIF) plays a crucial role in ensuring the stability of the country's financial system by protecting the rights and interests of depositors in the deposit guarantee system member banks (all Kazakhstani banks except for Islamic banks). In the event that a member bank's license to conduct all banking operations is revoked, KDIF pays guarantee compensation to its depositors in the manner and within the timeframes established by law.

Today, any adult citizen can easily open a deposit and/or account at a second-tier bank. In recent years, this process has been significantly simplified thanks to the development of mobile banking applications and internet banking. As a result, with just a few clicks and without leaving home, you can become a full-fledged client of a bank. It is worth noting that signing a bank deposit and/or bank account agreement online requires the depositor only to check a box indicating they have read it. However, in the modern world, where time is the most valuable resource, many depositors often do not even read the bank deposit and/or bank account agreement, missing many essential and genuinely important points.

An international conference titled "Success Story: 20 years of the Russian Deposit Insurance System " was held in Moscow, organized by the State Corporation "Deposit Insurance Agency" (DIA). The event was attended by representatives of legislative and executive authorities, the banking and expert communities, and deposit insurers from 20 countries, including all EAEU member states. The main theme of the conference was the improvement of mechanisms for protecting depositors' savings.
