Overview of Key Events in Q1 2026 in the Republic of Armenia

​In Q1 2026, the following events occurred in the Republic of Armenia in the field of bank deposit insurance (guaranteeing), liquidation, financial recovery and bankruptcy of credit institutions, as well as the functioning of the banking market:

1. A draft of the new “Procedure for Reimbursement of Guaranteed Deposits” has been developed

​The “Procedure for Reimbursement of Guaranteed Deposits” describes the main actions of the Deposit Guarantee Fund of the Republic of Armenia (hereinafter referred to as the Armenian Fund) upon the occurrence of a reimbursement case for guaranteed deposits:

  • procedures for interaction with depositors, the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, and the agent bank;​
  • the procedure for reviewing and satisfying problematic claims of depositors;​
  • the procedure for selecting an agent bank;​
  • the procedure for decisions by the Fund’s Board of Trustees on raising additional funds and ensuring the liquidity of the Fund’s assets;​
  • a memorandum of cooperation with a potential agent bank;​
  • other documents.​

2. A Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed with the National Deposit Insurance Fund of Hungary

​The Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation signed between the Deposit Guarantee Fund of Armenia and the National Deposit Insurance Fund of Hungary provides for cooperation in the following main areas: exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of deposit insurance (guaranteeing), holding regular consultations and joint events, studying experience in the development of information technologies and databases, implementation of joint research initiatives, as well as, if necessary, other joint activities.

3. A meeting with students was organized in honor of Book Giving Day (February 19, 2026)

On February 19, 2026, a meeting with students was organized to mark the celebration of Book Giving Day. The main goal of the event was to create an open platform for discussing financial literacy issues, as well as forming practical skills for effective personal finance and savings management.

As part of the program, an interactive game on financial topics was organized, which allowed participants to consolidate the knowledge gained in an engaging way. The winners of the game were awarded the most popular books on financial topics.

​The event took place in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, contributing to the active participation of students, open dialogue, and a productive exchange of views.

4. The Director of the Fund spoke at the Armenian State University of Economics

​On March 24, 2026, the Director of the Deposit Guarantee Fund of Armenia, Hermine Harutyunyan, held a lecture for students of the Faculty of Finance at the Armenian State University of Economics (ASUE).

During the lecture, the basics of securities management, principles of prudent saving, and other key aspects of financial literacy were presented. Particular attention was paid to practical approaches to financial decision-making.

The lecture was held in a productive and interactive atmosphere. Students actively participated in the discussion and asked questions of interest, demonstrating a high level of engagement in the educational process.
