International Events of EAEU Deposit Insurers were held in the Kyrgyz Republic

In the Kyrgyz Republic at Lake Issyk-Kul on August 12–13, 2026, international events were held for deposit insurers of the EAEU member states. The international events included meetings of the Council of Heads of Deposit Insurance Organizations of the EAEU Member States (hereinafter referred to as the Council of Heads), the Expert Group on Harmonization of Legislation in the Field of Insurance (Guaranteeing) of Bank Deposits, Liquidation, Financial Recovery, and Bankruptcy of Credit Institutions in the Territory of the Eurasian Economic Union under the Advisory Committee on Financial Markets of the Eurasian Economic Commission (hereinafter referred to as the Expert Group), and the Working Group on Cooperation in the Field of Digitalization of Deposit Insurers of the EAEU Member States under the Council of Heads (hereinafter referred to as the Working Group).

Within the framework of the meeting of the Council of Heads, the heads of deposit insurers of the EAEU countries and the Republic of Uzbekistan exchanged information on the situation in the banking sector and deposit insurance systems, as well as plans for organizing and holding joint practical seminars in 2026–2027.

At the meeting of the Expert Group, representatives of deposit insurers re-discussed the expert opinion on the parameter “Tax Policy Regarding Deposit Insurance Organizations”, and also reviewed revisions of expert opinions on the following parameters:

• “Bank Insolvency and Grounds for Declaring It Bankrupt”;
• “Appointment of Provisional Administration”;
• “Holding Liable Persons Involved in Bank Bankruptcy, and the Role of the Deposit Insurer in this Process”.

During the meeting of the Working Group, participants shared experience in overcoming personnel shortages in the IT sector, and also discussed, in a round-table format, the prospects of implementing artificial intelligence technologies in the work of deposit insurers.

Representatives of deposit insurers and national banks of the EAEU member states, the Deposit Guarantee Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the Eurasian Economic Commission took part in the international events.
